“Carolyn Shea is one of the most positive people I know. Besides being positive with herself, Carolyn is positive with everyone around her and tries to bring out the best in people. I have been Carolyn’s personal trainer since September 2012 at FitPro Studios in Trumbull, CT which is associated with Planet Fitness where Carolyn has been a member since 2006. Carolyn was often my last client in the evenings, and after a long day of training clients and taking doctoral classes at the local university I was pretty tired by the time she came in. However from the moment Carolyn walked in the door she had a smile on her face and always managed to put a smile on mine as well.
Carolyn was easily one of my hardest working clients in the gym, and it was easy to see her hard work spread to all aspects of her life. Carolyn trained with me two nights per week, and I would often see her in the gym a few other times a week completing some of the workouts we had done and creating her own. Every week I would love to hear what races she was running and what charity fitness events she was planning on attending. Each workout, Carolyn was eager to do any workout I had planned and was always inquisitive about her performance as well as which muscle groups she was working and how she could progress the exercise. Carolyn and I always had great discussions about nutrition, and she quickly expanded her knowledge and information base.
Watching Carolyn’s progress in fitness over the six months I trained her was inspiring. Although I would like to take credit for it, Carolyn’s progress was all due to her own motivation and positive ‘never give up’ attitude. Although I showed Carolyn some new exercises and gave her some nutrition tips, my two sessions a week with her did little compared to the several hours a week working on her fitness goals she put in on her own. Carolyn was always setting new goals for herself, a major one being running a half marathon, which she completed early this spring. Carolyn’s outlook on fitness was admirable, as she was always looking to better herself and reach the next level, sharing my attitude about the importance of physical fitness in life.” –Sara
