Side note: I would highly recommend Meetup. It is a website/iPhone app that has events that brings people together. I am currently in the New Haven Runners & Team in Training groups. So there are groups and they hold events based on the groups interest. I only use Meetup for running but it seems like there are lots of other interests. The class was a New Haven Runners event.
Okay, back to Crossfit. The grunting of the Cross Fit athletes around our class was very intimidating. But besides that, over all it was a good class. I learned about leaning forward to propel which I never thought of, I thought I needed to stand up straight to breathe better. Then we learned about running being two parts, the legs and the cardio vascular system. So you don’t necessarily have to run 25 miles in 1 time to train for a marathon. You can run/do cardio for a couple hours, do strength training, and weight training and be just as prepared as the person who ran 30 miles. Seemed like legit advice, kind of obvious but absolutely smart. We also talked about sneakers, and he basically said don’t fix it unless it is broken. So if you like what you have, don’t change it to be trendy. If you feel good, stay with the sneakers you have. Which was also good advice. I love my Asics Gel Noosa’s!
