This was Jess’ first 5K ever and her 25th birthday! I am so happy when Daniella told me that she wanted to join us for this 5K. We arrived nice and early to have time to pick up our bibs and get comfortable, no need to rush and stress like Hartford. By the time we started, I was feeling good. Jess was a little nervous but for no reason, she is an awesome runner and has been training.
Mile 1 went by nice and fast, mile 2 had a giant hill that we had to run down then run right back up. Ouch! Daniella and I met on the hill and ran the rest of the 5K together. There were a few times she actually told me to go ahead. The finish line felt like it was so far away but I was truly enjoying myself, I had found a stride that was comfortable.
Brandie was amazing and cheering for us with her husband. We appreciated the support, I know how busy she is so that made it extra special.
As we approached the finish line I grabbed Daniella’s hand. It was amazing that 1 year ago Daniella dragged me across the finish line for a 1 second PR. That race, another Halloween race, she literally dragged me, she had my weight in her hand. To feel like I had worked hard enough this year to get strong enough to be equal with her as we sprinted/leaped ;) (I have short legs, sprinting feels like leaping) into the finish line felt AWESOME!

PR! Getting so close to under 30 minutes!
