Mile 1 and mile 4 ended up being the same mile. They were on a bridge with water on either side. Running by a lighthouse in the fog in the distance was gorgeous, it could have been on a postcard! But with water on both sides, the bridge felt like a wind tunnel. But despite the weather, this could easily be one of my favorite races! Why? Not only because of the scenery, 4 miles was the perfect distance, the roads were completely flat, and most importantly EVERYONE was so friendly! There were men and women cheering on everyone, not just watching for their family members, which often happens at road races. The police officers were giving hi-fives to all of the runners! And when I asked the woman standing at the mile 1 and mile 3 signs "what is the verdict?" she told me "I was doing awesome." The kindness on this course was inspiring!
The only suggestion I have for the Delaney Dash is to find a place to start with better parking. If you want to have a race with 500 runners, you need to make sure there is room for 500 cars. And we even carpooled! But how could I be mad at them, this was the first Shoreline Road Race Series race that the free tee shirt was tech!
